Cloud Mask
The image projected onto the panel originates inside the painting itself. A computer has been carefully retrofitted into the traditional wooden panel. A complete circle is formed from computer to projector and back to the surface of the painting.
The viewer is familiar with the format of a painting but is confronted by an eerie sensation as the opaque surface of the painting appears to emanate light. The projector isn't immediately figured into the understanding of the piece because it is initially overlooked and not expected. Even when it is discovered, the projector is discounted as the source of the image in favor of the painting.
